~ Ferry out of service ~

The ferry service is closed for annual scheduled
 maintenance for 4 weeks, 23 June - 14 July 2009.

Note: the park remains otherwise open to visitors.

   

~ New ferry operator ~

The government has finally chosen a new ferry operator,

 Maria Island Ferry departs from Triabunna, 0419 746 668.

Regular visitors will have noticed the service is no longer daily through the year, and also that fares have doubled in price.

 

~ Closed to visitors ~

Parks has closed all visitor access to the Island
 for 12 days, 16-28 July 2007.

The ferry service is closed for annual scheduled maintenance for 4 weeks, 16 July - 12 Aug 2007.

   

Snake alert! The early warm weather has brought out the snakes early this year - active since September - so remember to wear gaiters, keep an eye out and allow snakes to move away: keep your distance and never annoy them, stomp on the ground and they will wake up and move away from you in time.

 

~ Summer Ranger Program ~

Activities, including slide shows, guided walks and children's activities are conducted by the annual Summer Ranger Program, running for approximately 6 weeks commencing mid December, and also over Easter.

   

~ "Mapping Maria" celebrations ~

"From France to Freycinet Festival" celebrates Abel Tasman mapping Maria. There is free entertainment and activities April 7-9, 2006, includes half price ferry and free park entry on April 8. Click here for more details.
